Who is talking when meditating?

When meditating, the “voice” that one hears is often thought to be the inner dialogue or thoughts of the mind. This can include various forms of self-talk, reflections, or even judgements about the meditation process itself. In many meditation practices, the goal is to observe  these thoughts without attachment, allowing them to come and go without engaging with them.

We must ask ourself:

“How do I navigate the edge without recoiling and returning to a life that feels too small for my soul?”

My goal is to help you connect with a deeper sense of self or consciousness—your inner wisdom or intuition—rather than a literal voice. However, distinguishing between intuition and fantasy can be challenging.

One way to tell the difference is that the voice of intuition may feel uncomfortable or unsettling; it might not be what you wanted to hear. In contrast, fantasy often comes with a sense of ease, saying things like, “Everything aligns; this will be so wonderful and good. I’m in the flow.” Don’t fool yourself… Intuition has grounded-ness, not fantasy.

Intuition is the secret of the greatest decision makers.” Carl Jung
